The Car for This Stay

Why the BMW X7 works in Geneva

Teenagers notice where they sit. In the X7 the second row is two separate seats, so nobody gets the middle and the back of the car stays peaceful from the hotel to the mountains. Above them, a full-length glass roof turns the first view of the Alps into something the whole car sees. To rent a BMW X7 in Geneva is mostly to choose a mood: the GLS feels like a lounge, the X7 feels a little sharper to drive, and both carry seven.

  • Two captain's chairs in the middle Individual second-row seats with a walkway between them make the third row easy to reach, and siblings get an armrest each instead of a shared bench.
  • A roof made for the Salève and the Alps On the drive south toward Annecy, the panoramic roof lets the back seats watch the Salève and the Alps go by.
  • Luggage, confirmed in advance Seven aboard leaves room for five large suitcases. With the third row folded, the boot takes about nine. We match the layout to your bags before you land.
  • Whole-summer pricing The X7 can be booked for several weeks at a time; tell us how long you are staying and we quote a weekly price.

  • Chamonix & the Aiguille du Midi

    1h15 · France

Cool mountain air on a hot Geneva day - cable car toward Mont Blanc. Go early; the family lunch spot is La Calèche in Chamonix village.

  • Montreux & Château de Chillon

    1h00

Switzerland's most family-friendly landmark plus lakefront ice cream in Montreux. On the return, the motorway gets you home in under an hour when the kids fade.

  • Annecy

    45 min · France

The canal town the whole Gulf Instagram already knows; pedal boats are the afternoon hit. Arrive before 10 a.m. for parking near the old town.

  • Glacier 3000 & Col du Pillon

    1h45

Cable car from Col du Pillon to 3,000 m: suspension bridge and glacier sledge. Snow in July - the photo that makes the group chat.

  • Lavaux terraces & Vevey

    50 min

UNESCO vineyard roads, then the Alimentarium and Chaplin statue for the children. Late afternoon light on the terraces is the move.

Speed cameras are everywhere and fines are severe - we brief every client on limits at handover.

Cross-border paperwork for France and Italy is handled - the car is fully cleared. Rue du Rhône valet culture is busy in August; we brief the best drop-off points.

Local know-how

Good to know in Geneva

Annecy: park early, then walk

Annecy's canal quarter is mostly pedestrian. Arrive before 10 a.m. and use a car park on the edge of the old town; a car this long is easier there than in the narrow lanes.

Gruyères: the village is car-free

Allow about 1h30. You park below the medieval town and walk up the hill, so plan comfortable shoes for grandparents and a stroller that handles cobbles.

Winter trips to Haute-Savoie

Between 1 November and 31 March, French law requires winter tyres or chains in designated mountain areas, including much of Haute-Savoie. Tell us your plans and we prepare the car for them.

Questions

BMW X7 in Geneva: questions we get asked

Should we choose the BMW X7 or the Mercedes GLS?

Both seat seven with individual second-row seats. The X7 has a panoramic roof and a slightly sportier feel at the wheel; the GLS leans further toward softness. Tell us who is travelling and we will suggest one.

Can seven people and a stroller fit for a day in Annecy?

Yes. With all seats in use, the boot still takes a folded stroller alongside day bags. For the airport run with full suitcases, send us your bag count first.

Will teenagers be comfortable on the drive to Gruyères?

The second-row seats are full-size and individually adjustable, so a 1h30 drive is easy. The third row is best kept for younger children on longer trips.

Can we keep the X7 for a month?

Yes, it is one of our long-stay cars. Ask for weekly pricing; if the summer ends in Zurich or Interlaken, the car can be left there.

Check dates for your stay

Luxury shopping in Geneva

Geneva is one of Europe's densest luxury corridors. Leave the car with valet and walk the maisons on foot - we brief drop-off points that keep Rue du Rhône arrivals smooth.

Rue du Rhône

Watches, bags & haute joaillerie

Rue du Rhône

The main stage for Patek Philippe, Rolex, Vacheron Constantin, Cartier, Hermès, Chanel and Louis Vuitton. Start at the Rhône end and work toward Rive - most flagships sit within a few blocks.

For the most exclusive watch appointments, ask the maison for a private viewing; we can time car delivery around your slot.

Rue de la Confédération & Rue du Marché

Couture & leather

Rue de la Confédération & Rue du Marché

Parallel streets for Dior, Prada, Gucci and specialist leather ateliers - quieter than the Rhône frontage, still fully valet-aware.

Ideal after a lakefront lunch; short walk from Quai du Mont-Blanc hotels.

Place du Port & Quai boutiques

Jewellery & one-off pieces

Place du Port & Quai boutiques

Lake-facing houses for high jewellery and independent watch retailers - useful when you want something rarer than the main-street windows.

Combine with an evening lakefront drive; we can collect you at the hotel porte-cochère.
